Great Blue Heron - These birds don't usually let you get that close to them but this one probably let me within 20 feet or so before it startled and flew off. It was another overcast day here in CO which made for the perfect bright white reflection on the lake and even lighting on the Heron. I'm not too fond of the tree growing behind the bird and through the beak, had I moved another foot to my right I could have got almost this same shot with that tree a little better well positioned. I'll start paying attention to the background more.

on July 3, 2012Great shot although I think there is too much white in the background... Empty space draws your eye there. maybe with the heron toward the right side instead of centered?? Beautiful
