on April 13, 2011Very effective; the infrared really emphasizes the horse, I think and its position with the head just over the railing. I really like this!

on April 13, 2011I've heard great things about the Hoya R72's - I went the cheap route and got a generic R72 from Bower - Probably not as high of quality but it gets the job done. And you will probably want to use a tripod, it just makes IR shots that much easier. They're not totally necessary, but a good idea. This photo of a horse I actually shot handheld, but I got very lucky. Had the horse or my hand moved the slightest bit, this photo would have turned out blurry. I want to say I had to use a 1/3s Shutter speed? But infrared filters are definitely fun to play with, you can get some really awesome effects!

on April 12, 2011Yeah...yeah...I'm getting the infrared feel. I have been considering buying a Hoya R72 Infrared filter. I've read that you have to use a tripod because of the long exposure times...but...what the heck...it would be worth it...I don't know enough about infrared photography to make any suggestions. Can say, though, that I dig it...
