Attempt #2 - I tried to capture something that was a little more distinct in the projection. This is of the house across the street, and the Longmont Rec Center down the road. Still super grainy... I bet if I shot more towards the middle of the day the exposures woudln't have to be as long and it would cut down on the noise factor a ton! I want to experiment with different sized pinholes as well... that would cut down on exposure time, but I have no idea how it would further distort the image.

on September 22, 2011Thanks guys! Jerry I want to try this shot again with a different tube. The surface on the inside of the cardboard tube was really rough and grainy itself. I think that had a lot to do with the clarity (or lack of) in the image. I bet a smooth tube would provide a clearer image also.

on September 22, 2011An interesting technique, Lohr. This is the kind of shot that lends itself to pp - noise removal, tonal contrast - or how about an HDR blend of three exposures? Your night time shows are really expert, by the way.
