We are our own toughest critics - This is my photo of the day. I have been eyeing up this location to shoot for awhile now, waiting for the perfect evening to go do it.
All said and done - I'm happy with the results - but at the same time, not crazy about the results. The composition is confusing and the scene is cluttered.
But I am posting this anyway because I realize that to take the perfect photo we first need to take countless more, make tons of mistakes, and be a little hard on ourselves from time to time. I am going to wait for another perfect evening, and reshoot this.
There is a photo here - and I'm going to find it!

on May 29, 2013You've got a lot to work with here. I think you can pull out several special angles for multiple images. Staying tuned!

on May 28, 2013Thanks guys, I will have to agree it's that little cottonwood tree popping out of the ditch in the center that is throwing the whole thing off. I'll have to move around and see if I can't find an angle that incorporates that tree and still makes the scene work. If only I could afford one of my photography goals to own a cherry picker style bucket truck for extra elevation no matter what landscape you are shooting. :)

on May 25, 2013I like it, funnily enough I agree with Kris about the green plant in the bottom centre though. There is a lot there, but does that make it cluttered? I like the curving road leading the eye in, then the lake carries you through, and the tree and fence on the right bounce you back in. I look forward to seeing what you make of this on different days :)

on May 25, 2013Well, I think it's beautiful. I think the only thing that bothers me is the green plant right in the bottom middle. It's taller than the background so it seems to be a perspective issue. PS it out and see what you get. I agree, there are many photo's here! Cant wait to see more.
